Founder / Managing Director
More than an applicator, Julien is an industry mentor and leader. He founded Idea Creations over 20 years ago, and has since combined hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership and project oversight — mastering preparations, selections, application and finishes, personally ensuring every detail meets the highest standards.
Julien has extensive experience working with AdLucem® microcement systems, leading their use and specification in Australia on hundreds of award-winning, internationally acclaimed residential and commercial projects.
A true master of his craft, he is known for his artistry, dedication, attention to detail, and collaborative approach — consistently delivering high-quality outcomes and building lasting industry relationships. Deeply committed to education, Julien has always been actively involved in training and mentoring, playing a key role in upskilling professionals in application methods, technical processes and best practices.
Nico Brusic
Senior Artisan / Trainer
Nico joined the team from France in 2025. With over 20 years in the industry and experience with AdLucem®, Nico is our technical expert. He has a deep understanding of system build-ups, preparation standards and application on floors, walls and complex surfaces.
He specialises in substrate assessment, layer sequencing, curing behaviour, finishing techniques and troubleshooting in line with recommended application processes.
Defined by his meticulous craftsmanship, rigour and a calm, considered approach to problem-solving, Nico brings clarity and invaluable skills to our trainings.

Who is the training designed for?
Our training is designed for applicators, tilers, painters, builders and construction professionals looking to add microcement to their services. Architects and designers are also welcome to attend for a deeper understanding of the material and its possibilities.
What does the course accreditation represent?
Upon completion, you receive an AdLucem® accredited certificate confirming you have been trained on the correct preparation, application and finishing of our Lucem systems. This is recognised by architects and specifiers as proof of competency.
Is the course suitable if I already have application experience?
Yes. Even experienced applicators benefit from understanding the specific characteristics of our mineral systems. The training covers advanced techniques, troubleshooting and best practices that go beyond general application knowledge.
What happens after I receive a training agreement?
Once you sign the training agreement, Idea Creations will confirm your session dates and send you all the practical details — location, schedule, what to bring. Payment is due before the training date.
What does the training focus on?
The training covers the full application process: substrate assessment and preparation, material mixing, application on walls and floors, sanding, sealing and protective treatments. 80 % of the training is hands-on practice in real conditions.
Where is the training?
Training sessions take place at the Idea Creations Atelier in Marrickville, Sydney. The workshop is purpose-built for hands-on mineral surface training with all necessary equipment provided.
